If you think you know Lord of the Flies, think again. FEU Theater Guild’s “BANGAW” is a twisting, breathtaking ride that starts as a survival story and ends as a psychological gut-punch.

The Hook: The line that will haunt you long after the curtains close? “What if we are the HALIMAW?”

At first, it’s a mystery. By the end, it’s a terrifying realization about the “monster” hiding within all of us.

The shocking reality: This isn’t just about kids stranded on an island; it’s a masterclass in how POWER changes people.

It tackles the heavy question: When given authority, do we choose Bayanihan (community) or do we turn Savage?

Why this matters: It is incredibly relevant to the Philippines right now as it challenges the younger generation to manage power with heart, proving that the real “monster” isn’t in the forest—it’s the greed and ego we let rise within ourselves.

Moreover, it challenges all generations to choose wisely who they vote to positions of power.

Verdict: Huge salute to the director, writer, and the powerhouse cast! This play is visceral, emotional, and absolutely essential.

As playwright Gold Villar Lim shared, “This cautionary tale is all about hope. Things can get messy, but we hold onto it.”
