Filipino Indian Commerce & Welfare Society Inc. (FICWSI), through its founding president Manjinder “James” Kumar, has been one of the first to immediately show support to newly elected Philippine National Police chief PGen. Guillermo Eleazar’s flagship program BARANGAYanihan Help & Food Bank launched on May 14, 2021.

BARANGAYanihan is a program aimed at going deep into the grassroots in order to extend help based on the respective communities’ needs.

Marginalised communities where hunger is rampant are provided food; a farming community is assisted with a water supply system.

These are among the noble BARANGAYanihan executions done to date.

Kumar, who also leads Rotary Club of Makati Nielsen as its current perfect vision president, pooled together resources to come up with donations in kind: 300 sacks of rice, 100 boxes of sardines, 2000 boxes of multivitamins, and 2000 boxes of vitamin C and turned these over to Eleazar personally at the formal launch of the program.
“Itong BARANGAYanihan Help & Food Bank effort, ipinapakita ang tunay na damdamin ng Pilipino, ang pagtulong sa bawat isa. (In this BARANGAYanihan Help & Food Bank effort, we show the true spirit of the Filipino people that is to help each other),” says Eleazar on his official Facebook Page.

Kumar has been awarded Philanthropist of the Year in 2020 by Asia Leaders Awards for his outstanding generosity and philanthropic stances when the Covid-19 pandemic hit the Philippines.
