Jasper Estaras, Yesh Burce, AJ Sison, and Kat Galang.
Following the successful relaunch of Boxstage Manila in 2024, the all-FTG alumni theater group returns to the stage with a restaging of George de Jesus III’s Palanca Award-winning play, Sala sa Pito. In partnership with Far Eastern University (FEU), FEU Alumni Relations Office (FEU-ARO), FEU Center for the Arts (FCA), and FEU Theater Guild (FTG), the production is directed by FTG’s Artistic Director and PETA Senior Artist Dudz Teraña.
Boxstage Manila has built a reputation for compelling performances, including its acclaimed 2020 run of Risa Jopson’s adaptation of Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s Ang Pinakamakisig sa mga Nalunod sa Buong Daigdig and its successful relaunch production of Allan Lopez’s Anatomiya ng Pag-ibig. With Sala sa Pito, the company continues its commitment to delivering thought-provoking and immersive theater experiences.
With Dudz Teraña’s direction, this staging of Sala sa Pito offers a fresh perspective on relationships. The play, loosely inspired by Arthur Schnitzler’s La Ronde, presents a series of interconnected scenes set in a restaurant, a club, a café, a ‘lugawan,’ and a bar, each exploring love and human connections. Set in 1990 and accompanied by the soulful music of the time, Sala sa Pito features eight characters navigating emotional and relational complexities; the production delves into themes of intimacy, vulnerability, power, and the ever-changing dynamics of relationships.
With a strong cast and a dedicated creative team, Sala sa Pito promises to be a compelling theatrical experience that will leave a lasting impact on audiences. The production features alternating performances by Kat Galang and Yesh Burce as Misis, Rowi Du and Kobie Hachero as Mister, Divine Aucina and Jamille Vivas as Matrona, Aj Sison and Jasper Estaras as Yuppie, Kloren Flores and Karyl Oliva as GRO, Jel Tarun and Jemuel Satumba as Masseur, JD Reyes as Waiter, and Jesus Singh III as Singer,
