CEBU CITY, Philippines — Indie rock band KANA (stylized as “K A N A”) has just released their latest single, “Leave It to the Moon”, on all major streaming platforms. The track follows the band’s previously released singles including “Stairway” and “Always Been Rose Tinted.”
KANA’s lyrical themes are centered on personal narratives about fleeting human experiences and “Leave It to the Moon” is no exception. “This song in particular is about that,” the band shares, “the successive experiences of loss and the constant curse of trying to accept the situation we find ourselves in.”
In addition to the streaming release, the band has also teased an official music video on social media. The music video, directed by Neil Nanta and featuring a character well-known to local indie film audiences from the Cebuano stoner film, Superpsychocebu, will be premiered a week after the song’s release date.
The launch of “Leave It to the Moon” will be celebrated with a release party on April 5 at Unity Coffee & Vinyl where the music video will also be screened exclusively prior to its online premiere. The show features a few of the Cebu indie scene’s finest, including Sad Day Assistance, Wijikun, bedtime television, and Deanery.
“Leave It to the Moon” is KANA’s first release under Melt Records and sets the stage for the band’s much-anticipated debut album which is yet to be announced.
